In 2013, all dioxin will be treated at Da Nang airport

That is the assertion of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Dinh Chien, Head of the Department of Science - Technology - Environment (under the Air Defense - Air Force) at the Workshop "Environmental treatment at Da Nang airport" led by the Steering Committee. 33 – The Ministry of Defense in coordination with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) held on January 13 in Da Nang City.

According to the plan, by the third quarter of 2011, the project will begin implementation, with a total implementation cost of about 34 million USD. With a processing capacity of 2.4 tons of soil/day, experts hope to thoroughly treat the toxic chemical dioxin at Da Nang airport by 2013.

USAID technical experts said that with the heat absorption method, the entire dioxin-contaminated soil layer will be put into a decomposition furnace (also known as an IPTD abutment with a width of 70m, height of 6m, length of over 80m), then , a power source with a capacity of about 6MW is directed directly into the autoclave. When the temperature reaches 300 - 350°C, toxins in the soil will decompose. After being treated, the land will be returned to its original location, so people can safely grow crops and raise livestock.
